MIKE CAREY raced close up on the inside, forced the pace to the stretch, then wore down and took the lead from JANE WILLIAMSON to win drawing clear. JANE WILLIAMSON raced into the lead, 6et a good pace to the stretch, loomed up as the winner, but tired badly and just outlasted STAR PLAY. The latter began slowly, closed a big gap in the final quarter and finished wearing the leadera :!own fast. TOP KICK began slowly, but gained much ground in the stretch. SAM PASS finished fast MARLOW, MY GLENN and PATSY LEWIS showed much early speed, but tired. PRINCESS MARGARET, in close quarters near the far turn, stumbled and went down suddenly. HEATHERWINE began slowly and was far out of it for the first five-eighths, but quickly closed a big gap and. coming on the inside in the stretch, gradually wore down the leaders and outfinished PATON. The latter raced under restraint, made a strong move in the stretch, wore down the leaders, but tired in the final strides. FORE STAR came to the outside in the streteh. gained some ground and finished gamely. MY PARDNER, a factor throughout, took the lead entering the stretch, but failed to hold it in a hard final drive. STERLING SILVER, well ridden, raced on the outside of the leaders, losing ground on the turns, tout worked his way up, then wore down and outlasted THISTLE STAR in a hard final drive. THISTLE STAR, close up, raced STEP ALONG into defeat and took the lead, held on well, but failed to withstand the rush of the winner. NURSERY RHYMES came fast in the stretch and gamely outlinished ATOI. The latter raced well throughout, but tired after a good first half-mile. STEP ALONG Bet a jood pace for three-quarters and tired. The latter, racing forwardly, came last with a good move in the final three-sixteenths, but Just failed to catch NANI-HAWAII. HUEY tired after the first half-mile.
