HIGH FOOT SURE STARTER Only an Accident Will Prevent Colt Going to Post in Kentucky Derby. NEW ORLEANS, La., April 2. Arrangements have been completed for the shipment of the Valley Lake Stable to Churchill Downs Thursday morning. Trainer J. B. Partridge will send the major division of his string, headed by the crack High Foot, direct to Churchill Downs, where the speedy son of Prince Pal will have his final training in preparation for the Kentucky Derby. According to Partridge, only an unlooked for training mishap will keep the colt out of the Derby. At the Fair Grounds yesterday morning High Foot was given a final gallop before shipment. He was credited with a half in :48, the first eighth in :11. The colt came out of his work in excellent condition. Charles Houbre, New Orleans horseman, acquired four horses during the day to campaign at the Beulah Park meeting. He secured Southern Cloud and Southland Chief from F. P. Letellier by private purchase and Rube Samuelson and Godiva from- A. V. Gallo. Jockey Danagher, whom Houbre thinks is a good riding prospect, will accompany the stable to the Ohio course. J. B. Partridge, through private purchase, acquired Allegretto and Downpour, two-year-plds, from J. McKeon, and also arranged to send six horses to Aurora, 111., in the care of A. Brown. There was much activity among horsemen stabled at Jefferson Park. O. Viau transferred Smoldering, Black Alice, Flaherty and Endor to Wheeling, while B. A. Jones, A. Thomas, A. B. Letellier and J. O. Williams are awaiting cars to transfer their strings to various northern tracks. The Letellier and Thomas strings are scheduled to go to Churchill Downs next Monday. In the Thomas shipment is High Score, the outstanding sprinter of the winter here. The Jones horses are listed for Aurora. It develops that former jockey Seremba, prior to his departure for Bowie, disposed of Jack OLeen to F. D. Metzger, who will ship his string to AVheeling today. J. G. Demarest, whose stable includes Extreme and others, changed his plans of shipping direct to Fairmount Park and has decided to race at Wheeling, transferring the horses to Fairmount Park later. W. R. Sallee is taking apprentice M. E. Meyers to Lexington, and shipping his stable of platers to Fairmount Park where they will be rested until the opening of that meeting.
