The arrival of shipments from the South and West, participants in the winter meetings at New Orleans, Florida and Agua Caliente, has caused a bustle and stir reminding spectators that the Exposition Park Jockey Club meeting, which opens here May 1, is the forerunner of the Illinois season. Clifford Trimble, general manager of the Aurora course, was notified many other shipments may be expected from all the winter tracks, including Cuba. The first book of conditions for the Aurora meeting was issued some time ago and calls for a higher class of horses than in former years. The manner in which it is written gives some of the larger stables an opportunity to race their handicap and near-handicap performers into condition. Track conditions at present are not very favorable, the heavy snow of last week having turned it into a regular quagmire, but Tim Smith, the local track superintendent, gives assurance that with a few good days he will have the track in good shape by Saturday. Among the early arrivals was E. J. Mc-Connell, accompanied by jockey W. Crees. Mr. McConnell has six two-year-olds that have never raced stabled here. The older division is to arrive later on. Other arrivals are Dave Neal, O. Neal, Red Everett, Tom Lucky, A. Plack, W. E. Jones and R. Allen A single car arrived from New Orleans yesterday, containing the property of Frank Farrar and Mrs. Mary Sullivan. The latters horses, which were formerly trained by John Bainton, have been placed in charge of Del Fountain, who formerly trained the horses of J. W. Marchbank. Mrs. Sullivans small string is headed by the good filly Blameless, a consistent winner that she purchased here last fall from Col. E. R. Bradley. A. G. Tarn has shipped part of his stable here, the others having gone to Wheeling, W. Va., and are to be shipped here after that meeting closes.
