t BOWIE TURF NOTES $ BOWIE. Md., April 9. Five claims were deposited for Laurie yesterday and in the drawing R. A. Johnson secured him for ,500. Bert Michell was an arrival from Kentucky. He came here to look over the two horses he has here in charge of Bill Bain. One of them is the English mare Golden Patch, which Michell purchased while abroad last year. Before leaving Agua Caliente, where he raced last winter, Michell disposed of his stable to Dr. OConnell. Arthur Brent has arranged to ship from here to Thorneliffe at the close of the Bowie meeting. News reached here of the death of Jack McDonald at the E. F: Simms farm, Paris, Ky. McDonald was rated as one of the best blacksmiths in the business. W. J. Potter reports the arrival of three foals by Brilliant at Tolly Youngs farm near Lexington. They are a colt from Carolyn Lee and fillies from Helen Cute and Blue Fox. Johnny Pitz, who was associated with the Rosedale Stable, is here making jockey Stef-fens engagements.
