L., showing the most early speed, drew away into a long lead rounding the turn, was never menaced, but was ridden out sharply to maintain her advantage in the final eighth. GNOME l!OY, under slight restraint in the early stages, suffered minor interference turning into the back stretch, gained steadily when clear and, closing with good courage on the outside, disposed of NEGODALE A in the stretch. The latter, a forward contender throughout, faltered in the last eighth. TRATLAND -i closed a big gap in the last half mile and would have been third in a few more strides. SWEET 4 CHANCE moved up fast on the inside, but tired. CHARIOTEER was forced to pull up sharply in the . first quarter mile. WANDERING GOLD showed early speed, but was pulled up in the last quarter mile. JJENDA was never prominent. BRANDON DARE, away forwardly, tried to bear out rounding the turn and, Barnes was unable to do him justice entering the stretch, but. finishing fast when straightened out, outlasted FERAID in the final drive. The latter, prominent in the early racing, saved ground while entering the stretch, finished fast. ROSEVOLT dropped out of contention early, but finished fast. A AVE LESS was buffeted about on the stretch turn. ZEBRA could not get up. CHEMIN DES DAMES acted extremely fractious at the post and the field was ordered started without her. CHATTAHOOCHEE, rushed into the lead, raced FAIR BILL into defeat in the first three-quarters and held on with good courage in the final drive. SIGNOLA, a contender and, saving ground, iii the early stages, responded well under punishment in the final eighth, but finished in tight quarters between the leaders. The latter outbroke her rivals and, saving ground, displayed speed, but tired slightly in the final sixteenth. FIRST MISSION, a contender all the way, closed fast under strong pressure and shook off JUDGE BARTLETT in the final eighth. The latter lost considerable ground entering the stretch. BILLY BAUGHN showed good early speed, but was taken back after entering the back stretch, but saved ground in the last quarter mile, closed gamely and outlasted IMMORTAL in the final drive.
