MOCITA followed BLUE HAT closely in the early running, headed the others in the stretch and ,raced into a long load near the end. EVELENA was always close up and, while no match for the winner, finished well. PRICE EOAVARDS broke slowly and gained ground steadily. DESERT STORM made up much ground, and finished gamely on the outside. TAMARIND was slow to get going, but closed a big gap. FAIR HEATHER and JOE G. tired badly. LADY FAD was off slowly and met with interference and was never dangerous. CADMEADO was shut off sharply on the far turn. NIFTY showed her usual early speed and outfinished SEQUOIA PARK. The latter opened up a long early lead, but tired badly in the final drive. TONTO ROCK was outrun all the way. PLAIN PETE, showing improvement over his previous effort, went to the front at once and, seemingly much the best, opened up a long lead in the last quarter and won by a wide margin. DEEP RIVER, lacking early speed, met witli interference in the early racing, but came fast in the last quarter. SWEEPING KAY was bumped at the start and showed a good performance.
