STOCK MARKET SHOWS SPEED Gives Best Display Over One Mile at Louisville. Sydney Outstanding Candidate for Derby Among J. X. Camden Eligibles .allant Knights Long Workout. LOUISVILLE, Ky April 12. J. W. Par-rish of Midway saw his Derby candidate Stock Market turn in the best mile workout of the morning at Churchill Downs when, in company with Rich Widow, lie finished the route in 1 :45. The fractional time was :37, :52 and 1 :18 for the first three-quarters. Trainer Willie Crump is putting Stock Market to his work in regular fashion and will have about eight more workouts for this son of Luke McLuke Rosewood before Derby Day. Johnson N. Camden, owner of a pretentious racing stable at the Downs, where he has three candidates for the Derby preparing for their engagement, saw Sydney, the most formidable of his entries, run one mile in IMG. The gelding was paced by Honey Locust for the first three-quarters, where she was eased up, Sydney going on to the mile alone. The fractional time was :3G, MO, 1:02, 1:16 and 1:31. The track was deep in dust, despite the fact that it had been sprinkled Friday night. Both Winslow and Ladrone, other candidates for the Derby in the Camden barn, were sent slow three-quarters moves. Trainer Kay Spence of the Audley Farm Stable, gave the watchers a sight of the longest move of the morning by a Derby candidate when he sent Gallant Knight one mile and an eighth in 2 :00. Easter Stockings went the first seven-eighths with the brown colt. Trainer Spence gave out the first three-quarters in 1:23 and seven-eighths in 1 :35. Willie Kern worked the colt. Mose Lowenstein sent Maudlin, the Le Mar Stable:s Derby eligible, one mile in :25, :51, 1 :17, 1 M7, which he accomplished easily. Roll Em Down, Mrs. Eva Deloziers Derby candidate, was hard held a mile in :24, :37, :50t3, l:17s5, 1:32 and 1:4G. Alex Gordon worked the Fair Stables Derby colts Sarazen II. and Desert Light at Douglas Park this morning. It was their final workout before being shipped to New York. Both colts were timed in :51 for the half and 1.48 for the mile. Misstep was galloped by trainer Lowenstein over three-quarters, the last five-eighths being timed in :37, :51, 1 :05. C. E. "Boots" Durnell worked most of the horses Of Griffin Watkins, millionaire sportsman of St. Louis, who was at the Downs this morning to inspect his horses. Mr. Watkins has no Derby representative this year, but hopes to develop one or more of his two-year-olds into stake horses by next year. John Flanagan gave Mrs. E. L. Swikards Supryse a preliminary gallop at the Downs of three-eighths in :3G. Jockey Schutte, under contract to the Audley Farm Stable, reported to trainer Spence this morning. He paid a visit to his home in Covington after leaving Agua Caliente. Trainer J. T. Taylor of the Warm Stable registered his rider C. Turk at his barn Friday. The lad came over from Collinsville, where he broke his long trip from Agua Caliente to Louisville. Harned Brothers good gelding Boris Js much improved from his fever contracted en route from Florida to the Downs and has no temperature at all. This firm of racing men will shortly receive two two-year-olds from McClainsboro from Val Campbell. They are both fillies by Ormont. Messrs. Stuart Hunter and J. B. Bryan motored from Lexington with Mr. Camden and will return with him to Lexington tonight. air. J. H. Rouse motored from Midway with Mr. Parrish and they will return to the Blue Grass this evening.
