iMORSUN WINS AGAIN ilrwin FourYearOld Repeats at Exposition Park Bob Rogers Accounts for Fourth FourthRace Race Large Crowd on onSecond Second Ladies Day AURORA 111 May 5 C B Irwins good Bracer Morsun winner of his last start Satur day at Exposition Park proved a repeater JAvhen he galloped to an easy victory over a small but good band of sprinters in the iJliverside Handicap todays feature race Old llCtckapoo finished second and Christie Flana gan was third with Andromeda and First Mission finishing outside the money Jack Haskell one of the overnight favorites was withdrawn when the rain came cameThe The race was over five and onehalf fur ¬ longs and every horse with the exception of Andromeda took a turn at breaking up etarts for Harry Morrissey Old Kickapoo was the worst offender and it was eight min ¬ utes before they were finally dispatched Christie Flanagan and Morsun raced to the front at once while First Mission was away poorly and seemed to sulk Morsun found the slow going to his liking and after racing a furlong began to draw away At the stretch turn he was four lengths clear while Christie Flanagan began to tire and Old Kickapoo which had met with interference moved up upBY BY WIDE MARGIN MARGINJockey Jockey Moran kept Morson going at his best pace in the stretch and though Mc ¬ laughlin on Old Kickapoo rode vigorously his efforts were to no avail and the Irwin colt passed the judges stand six lengths in advance Old Kickapoo was a like dis ¬ tance in advance of Christie Flanagan First Mission did not appear to be in the best of condition as the horses paraded to the post and is probably in need of a long rest He was sore going to the post and after acting badly at the barrier propped and had to be subjected to much punishment before he could be induced to run runWhen When the crowd of 8000 began to pass through the gates this afternoon the weather was sultry but the murky condition was relieved by a heavy downpour of rain after the second race The track was fast for the first two races and slow for the remain ¬ der of the afternoon This was the second ladies day of the meeting and that fact was no doubt mainly responsible for the large crowd crowdDr Dr Bidencope racing for I M Severson finally found a band that he could bea in the first race and proceeded to score with ease Ten threeyearold maidens lined up at the barrier and the winner displaying good speed led all the way Dorothy Mac was good enough to earn second place and Willing finished third Lang one of the choices threw her rider before reaching the gate and ran away one and onequarter miles before being captured She ran a fairly good race to finish fourth fourth31UCKLEY 31UCKLEY RIDES AVELL AVELLBeau Beau Aspin piloted by the veteran half e mile rider R Buckley scored a victory in the second race Buckley was making his first saddle appearance at the Aurora meeting and rode well He rated his mount nicely in the early stages and catching the leaders tiring in the stretch won easily Paddy Flaherty finished in second place and Mozart took third Twelve horses started startedA A heavy downpour which drenched the track occured after the second The rain was accompanied by a high wind winch swept down the course So great was the water fall that at times it was impossible to see the back stretch stretchZebra Zebra a daughter of the great Zev ap ¬ peared to be at home on the soft track over which the third race was run and galloped home an easy winner She defeated six other twoyearolds over the four and a half fur Jong distance Talented Prince and Wittora fought it out for second place and the former outstayed Wittora The latter set the early pace but Zebra saved ground in the stretch and was best at the finish Cloimar con ¬ sidered by many to have a splendid chance could not extend herself in the going and followed far back throughout Zebra is owned by Miss Blanche Watson and was ridden by jockey O Cooper CooperBob Bob Rogers mud runner from the stable of the Canadian turfman J Lee got a good break when the track was rendered slow by the rain and trounced the smallest band of the day in impressive style The winner was at home in the going and never left the result in doubt Away quickly he sprinted into a six lengths lead rounding the first turn and though tiring at the finish stag ¬ gered under the wire a handy victor Tanist closing fast was second while Chattering wag third and Bridegroom last in the field of four Bridegroom had little chance after rounding the tirst turn At that point he was sharply shut off and trailed the others thereafter 1
