FOURTH FOR MORSUN Irwin Sprinter Wins Another Purse at Exposition Park Favorites Fare Poorly During Day Cloimar Defeated in Third ThirdRace Race at OddsOn AURORA III May 12 Morsun champion sprinter of Aurora racing scored his fourth straight victory when he defeated a good band in the Naperville Handicap todays best race at Exposition Park Jack Howe a newcomer finished in second place a nose in advance of Charm Morsuns win ¬ ning margin Avas five lengths lengthsSix Six horses went to the post and Jack Howe which was a consistent winner in Florida during the winter was installed favorite despite the fact that it was his first race over the local course After acting a trifle unruly at the barrier Jack Howe showed speed and was off with the leaders while Morsun was fourth to bsgin With Charm setting the pace and Jack Howe in second place the field raced to the first turn and at that point Flood Con ¬ trol and Morsun moved up to join the lead ¬ ers They raced around the turn closely aligned but in a jam Flood Control suf ¬ fered and dropped back backJack Jack Howe took a short lead approach ¬ ing tlie final turn but Morsun was persist ¬ ent and when straightened out in the stretch got to the front From there to the finish it was only a question of his winning mar ¬ gin Jack Howe was tiring badly under his 122 pounds and Charm was also quit ¬ ting whereas Morsun was running freely When Moran on the Irwin horse was two lengths clear he took a good hold on his mount and Morsun won under restraint Jack Howe was quitting fast and barely lasted to save second place place3TArERVILLE 3TArERVILLE HANDICAP HANDICAPThe The Naperville Handicap had a 1000 purse and a good crowd was present to witness its running The track was fast and overhead conditions were ideal It was a bad day for the favorites several short priced horses going down to defeat Jockey C Stranski a newcomer in these parts scored his first victory of the meeting when he rode Timekeeper to victory in the first race Platoon an outsider set the pace but Timekeeper was always close up and coming fast in the stretch went to the front with but little argument and led to the finish Platoon was easily best of the remainder while Command managed to finish third The race was over six furlongs and twelve started startedMichael Michael Monahan was the medium of heavy play in the second race and after being rele ¬ gated to last place through interference after the start came on to win by a nose Ridden by jockey Mulrooney he showed a good effort to get up in time Nell B set the pace and was passed by Leller Bunny after going a quarter The latter took a good lead in the stretch but did not have enough left to withstand the rush of the winner and was forced to be content with second place Blue Canopy finished third Michael Monahan was a popular winner winnerCLOI3IA11 CLOI3IA11 DISAPPOINTS DISAPPOINTSCloimar Cloimar oddson favorite in the third race showed a dull effort and though finishing second was badly beaten by Gibbys Lillian The winner was much the best as the race was run She showed speed in the early stages but raced wide on the stretch turn and lost many lengths Despite that mis ¬ fortune the others were not good enough to catch her and she retained command and galloped to the finish line an easy winner after racing all over the track in the stretch Carolyn Barker finished third Cloimar on the strength of her good showing recently when she defeated a better band came in for an exceptionally heavy play but though Leyland tried to persuade her to extend herself she was apparently loath to do so and at no time seriously threatened the winner winnerSan San Carlos badly beaten in his only two starts here returned to form today to beat a good band over the one mile and seventy yard route in the fourth race He finished three lengths in front of Bridegroom while Bob Rogers the favorite was third San Carlos although racing close up displayed poor speed until the stretch was reached and at that point he suddenly rushed up to the leaders As they made the turn he found an opening and coining through took a twolength lead almost immediately Once clear he cantered through the remaining fur Contioued on twentieth page FOURTH FOR MORSUN Continued from first page long well in advance of the others Jockey Colvin rode the winner winnerMalcolm Malcolm an outsider came from behind to win the sixth race Raymond Dale and Flag Lieutenant set the pace and when the former tired Flag Lieutenant took command but despite racing well could not resist the final rush of the winner BirdieWrack was third Jockey Colvin rode the winner and it was his second triumph of the day
