No Purse Less Than 1500 During Arling ¬ ton Park Meeting Otto Lehmann president of the Arlington Park Jockey Club announced today that the directorate of which Charles McCulloch is chairman had fixed 1500 as the minimum purse for the racing at Arlington Park that will begin June 30 to continue through Satur ¬ day August 2 the day fixed for the running of the 25000 weightforage race of one mile and a quarter for threeyearolds and over which will have the place on the getaway program intended originally for the 100000 International of one mile and a half halfPurse Purse values will scale upward according to the quality of the horses sought for the various races On days of stccplechasing there will be eight races instead of seven Joseph McLennan cleric of the course who was at Pimlico Friday for the Preakness revival and Saturday for the running of the Maryland Jockey Clubs final spring pro ¬ gram sends word that there will be as many fencers here for the first steeplechasing Chi ¬ cago will have had within living memory as the Wcstchester Association will have at Bel ¬ mont Park for the chasing of the spring meeting that will begin Thursday to continue twentythree days One hundred and fifty jumpers raced at the Pimlico meeting There will be 200 to 250 at Belmont Park Sports ¬ men East and West who maintain stables of jumpers at heavy expense welcome the op ¬ portunity to take part in the steeplechasing at Arlington Park where some odd 30000 will be distributed for steeplechasing purses
