WHICHONE IN PUBLIC MOVE Whitney Champion Looks Great Greatin in First Workout Before BeforeBelmont Belmont Audience NEW YORK N Y May 21 Tom Healy gave a first public view of H P Whitneys Whichone after the running of the steeple ¬ chase at Belmont Park today The magnifi ¬ cent son of Chicle champion juvenile of last year was sent along for a mile with Marshall Lilley in the saddle and it was part of his preparation for his engagement in the mile of the Withers to be run May 31 Under restraint all the way the colt maintaining an even pace worked in 1 41 though some watches made it a shade faster fasterAYhichone AYhichone had Angry to carry him the last three furlongs and he held the running mate all through to finish out strongly The move was decidedly impressive Healy paid Gallant Fox a compliment when he had the lad on Angry carry a red cap and a jacket such as is carried by the Woodward cham ¬ pion pionWhichone Whichone surely was a picture horse as he stepped on the track Marshall took plenty of time reaching the mile pole where he broke him smoothly and all through the move the son of Chicle maintained a good pace paceHe He ran the first furlong in 12 the sec ¬ ond in 12 third in 12ys fourth in 12 fifth in 13 Then Angry crossed him slightly and the final quarter was run in 25 The move was even more impressive than is shown on paper and it is evident that Gallant Fox will find a worthy foe man when Whichone meets him in the run ¬ ning of the Belmont on June 7 7Several Several others of the threeyearolds that are being pointed for either the mile of the Withers to be run May 31 or the mile and a half of the Belmont to be decided June 7 are going forward for their engagements nicely Gallant Fox came back from his successful invasion of Kentucky none the worse for his trip and was out for a slow gallop at Aqueduct He will have a short rest before he is tightened up for the Bel ¬ mont and unless plans are changed will not be raced in the Withers WithersW W R Coes Caruso stepped an easy half at Belmont Park George D Wideners Wai Saint was not asked much when sent along for a breezing seven furlongs and James Butlers Questionnaire had an easy mile as his assignment New Broom which races for C V D Cushmans Eastland Farms Stable was under saddle but an easy five furlongs was all that was required Samuel D Riddles Full Dress was sent along for six furlongs and Walter M Jeffords Arma ¬ geddon which showed flashes of quality be ¬ fore his defeat in the Preakness is another training nicely Walter J Salmons Swin field and Battleship are two other Bel ¬ mont eligibles that are progressing nicely
