FEATURE TO BOCARATON1 Mrs Potters Eacer Winner o Post Dispatch Handicap Sterling Silver Captures Lindbergh Anniver ¬ sary IMirse at 1nirinount Osslc IL Proves a Repeater COLLINSVILLE 111 May 21 Getting into the Post Dispatch Handicap with very light weight Mrs W J Potters Bocaratone won from a good field in the Fairmount Park feature this afternoon The Post Dispatch was run as the fifth race and although Ex ¬ treme and CogrAir were withdrawn the ag ¬ gregation was one that could be calculated to get the best out of any Fairmount sprinter Tippy Toe a filly which won her last race here with ease finished second and Uluniu was third thirdNelson Nelson ah overwhelming favorite in the first race at threequarters of a mile made good in easy fashion when he led home Margaret Needham Southland King and seven others of the plater division divisionStarter Starter Wingfield lost no time in getting them lined up and it was a good start with Southland King breaking in front Mar ¬ garet Needham displayed the most early speed and led the field the opening quarter Nelson was right after her and got to the front starting the second quarter and from there on he increased his margin and was two lengths in front of Margaret Needham at the end The latter a rank outsider had six lengths on Southland King at the end Mutual Friend which has been com ¬ peting with a much better grade of per ¬ formers was expected to show improvement in this but failed to improve his position during the subsequent running runningODDSOX ODDSOX CHOICE WINS WINSOssie Ossie H was the second straight oddson favorite to score when he proved best of the eight that went to the post in the sec ¬ ond race Billy came from a long way out of it to gain second place while Lady ONeil finished third The winner under his im ¬ post of US pounds raced in close pursuit for a half indulging Lady ONeil in set ¬ ting the pace for a half but when ready easily raced past the Stroud representative and continuing with good courage easily held Billy safe The latter began rather sluggishly being far back for the ffrst half but increased his speed as they made the stretch turn and tinder hard riding wore down Lady ONeil getting up in the final strides for second place placeFlora Flora Levy backed up when the start was effected and was practically ieft but jockey R Whittnker not discouraged went right after the oth ° rs and had her in a contend ¬ ing position av they reached the head of the back stretch However she showed signs of distress and failed to finish in the money moneyNine Nine lower grade distance performers an ¬ swered the call for the one mile and seventy yards of the third race in which War Nymph and apprentice E Goodrich proved a winning combination and registered a double for Mrs K Ramseys stable Melita was second and The Cossack third thirdWar War Nymph displayed the most speed from the start and Goodrich had him in the van under restraint as he led the field around the first turn Tidy American was forcing the pace while The Cossack had a good advan ¬ tage over Ocean Current CurrentGOODRICH GOODRICH RIDES WELL WELLAs As the race progressed the rapid leader increased his lead to four lengths and when they entered the stretch it was evident that he would be returned the winner for Good ¬ rich still had the victor under restraint Melita began rather slowly and jockey Han ford did not resort to rushing tactics but bided his time in making up ground and the Huntingdon stables representative gained gradually to finish second The Cossack un ¬ der energetic tactics of jockey Dubois who was making his debut had John Grants racer two and onehalf lengths in advance of Ocean Current for third money moneyWar War Nymphs victory marked the third consecutive victory for public choices choicesThe The Blue Star Stables Sterling Silver neg ¬ lected in the speculation accounted for the Lindbergh Anniversary Purse ran as the fourth race and serving as a supplementary to the PostDispatch Handicap Wednesdays outstanding feature Jar folloved the win ¬ ner into second place and Eloise took down third for William Cain CainSimon Simon Kenton and Water Lad attracted the most support but neither could substan ¬ tiate the judgment of their backers although Simon Kenton raced in close attendance the first half mile then gave way badly badlyThe The winner under hard urging of jockey Dubois who was riding his first winner here made up ground rapidly and as they turned for home was drawing up on the leaders and continuing with good courage outstayed Jar Jar made a game bid but failed in his effort Eloise found the two more successful ones too persistent and gave way to their prowess prowessThe The winner was coupled with Joe Engel as the field and it was the first victory of a field horse at this meeting
