EASY FOR JACK HOWE Wins Exposition Park Feature by Seven Lengths Victory Completes Double for Jockey Ayraud Wittora and Wigrose Among Winners AURORA 111 May 22 Jack Howe the J C Ellis racer with ten pounds off from his last start showed his sprinting ability by leading a good band to the finish in the Pere Marquette Purse which held the posi ¬ tion of honor on this afternoons program at Exposition Park The long priced Flood Control followed him to the finish while Bramstar raced to third place Irish which carried the hopes of the majority finished in the ruck ruckThe The success of Jack Howe was easily achieved He won by seven lengths with jockey Ayraud having a snug hold on him as he passed the finish The start of the race was effected immediately and Ayraud had his mount off in front Jack Howe raced clear of the others coming to the first turn and with the others tiring opened up a long lead in the stretch Irish though undoubt ¬ edly inferior to the winner this afternoon would have been much closer up but f bad racing luck He was in close quarters on the far turn and when he finally found racing room he tired and could make little impression on the winners lead leadFAST FAST TRACK TRACKThe The races were run over a fast track and Jack Howe ran the five and a half furlongs distance in 106 It was the second tri ¬ umph of the afternoon for jockey Ayraud AyraudA A crowd of surprising proportions attended this afternoon and sweltered because of the warm sun as they packed the grandstand to catch a glimpse of the horses horsesJockey Jockey Mulrooney who rode three winners yesterday continued his good work this after ¬ noon when he piloted The Abbot to victory in the first race The boy rode a good race rating his mount in a prominent position and making his move at the opportune time to catch the leaders in the run home and score by a length Woodface with Moran up took second place and Na Zdar though tir ¬ ing was good enough to hold third place Tetra Glass the favorite was the victim of poor racing luck and was never prominent though finishing fourth The race was over six furlongs and a big field went to the post Wigrose postWigrose racing coupled with Tea Gown as the Dreyer entry made good for the sup ¬ porters of that entry by winning the second race in hollow fashion Jockey Ayraud on the winner hustled her into a safe lead and she was never menaced winning by six lengths Sugarland took second place and Three Inarow was third Red Tarn was the favorite but showed poor speed Wittora a twoyearold carried the red and white colors of C B Irwin to an easy victory in the third She was pitted against seven others of her own age and breaking fast from an inside post position was never headed Good Friend was on his bad behavior at the barrier but raced well to finish in second place and Maxie Binder was third The race was at five furlongs Moran rode the win ¬ ner which paid 722 722DOUBLE DOUBLE FOR MULROOXEY MULROOXEYTanist Tanist was the first favorite to score during the day He made it a double for jockey Mulrooney when he won the fifth race which was the second best attraction of the after ¬ noon Mulrooney who has shown consider ¬ able improvement in his saddle work during the past week put up a perfect ride on the winner and gave his supporters little cause to worry He nursed the gelding for a halt mile while Behave Cash set the pac and when the latter began to show signs of fa ¬ tigue went to the front with his mount still under a snug hold arid letting out a wrap when Searington challenged in the stretch won easily by slightly over a length Sear ¬ ington which finished second was the victim of jockey Keisers watting tactics but the boy rode well in the last quarter to bring his mount up with a belated rush General Jack ¬ son was third The race was at one mile and seventy yards and the winner was dec ¬ orated with a floral neckpiece by the head of the Peoria delegation in whose honor most of the races this afternoon were named Jockey namedJockey Mulrooney won his third race of the afternoon when he brought his contract employers Prospect home winner of the sixth race While most of the others were going wide on the first turn he stuck close to the rail and opening up a safe lead was never headed Captain Applejack was second and Theo Red third thirdS S Trenchard who has been riding in the West Indies for some time was an arrival and applied for a jockeys license Trenchard rode many winners on the southern islands Friday islandsFriday is the last ladies day of the meet ¬ ing at Exposition Park and the management expects a very large crowd
