CONNAUGHT PARK MEETING Racing on Major Circuit in Canada CanadaShifts Shifts to Ottawa Course Good Inaugural Program OTTAWA Ont June 4 Racing on the major circuit of Canada shifts to Connaught Park where a meeting of the usual seven days will begin Thursday afternoon and one of the best meetings at the Aylmer plant is anticipated anticipatedEvery Every available space for the accommoda ¬ tions of the thoroughbred colony has been put into use and at the present time most of the stalls at the Hull course are occu ¬ pied During the past few days numerous shipments have been switched into the un ¬ loading chute here several carloads of racers coming from Montreal Toronto and Maryland This morning a delayed shipment consisting of several well known racing es ¬ tablishments that have been campaigning at Belmont Park arrived without mishap and included sixteen horses Joe Edwards is rac ¬ ing for various owners a dozen J D Misick is training for A R Lawson Bobby Doyle and the J H Dean stable with a dozen each and J Baird with six sixSince Since the conclusion of the midsummer meeting in 1929 several new improvements have been made here and with the plant touched up by painters it is considered one of the finest in the Dominion and presents a picturesque appearance Rain that fell during the past few days added greatly in restoring the track to its fastest condition and it is expected that this will aid in fast time being made madeThe The capital at the present time is full of visitors and all hotels report much busi ¬ ness Local supporters of thoroughbred sport in this vicinity have been waiting anxiously for the return of their favorite pastime and excellent crowds are expected daily Lord and Lady Willingdon who ushered in the Canadian racing season at Woodbine Park have assured the local management that they will be on hand several times during the meeting and will come in state on their visit Racing begins at 245 p m daylight sav ¬ ings time and fast transportation for fans has been secured
