THREE FINISH NOSES APART Germaine Chauvelot Is Victor in Thrilling Race at Fairmount Whataman Wins First Start Scoring Initial InitialSuccess Success for the 3Icadowbrook Farm Farmand and Jockey Whitacrc COLLINSVILLE 111 June 10 Todays fourth race at Fairmount Park produced one of the most thrilling finishes of the meeting when Ed McCuans Germaine Chauvelot B B Rices Thco Rochester and Frank Sercm bas Judge Dixon came down to the finish so closely aligned that only the judges could decide between them The numbers hung up were in the order as given above The best class of horses competed and deprived the fifth race of its usual feature position on the program programAlthough Although todays card was assembled un ¬ der claiming conditions the racing was in ¬ teresting throughout and well played choices scored in the majority of the events The fair sex were the guests of the management and the spacious stand was filled long before time for the opening event eventIn In the fourth they were at the post but a short time when Buddy Wingfield dispatched the field to a good start Judge Dixon as ¬ sumed the lead and continued there until almost the end when he was caught by Ger ¬ maine Chauvelot and Theo Rochester The latter was the one to force the pace the en ¬ tire trip but he too submitted to the closing challenge of Germaine Chauvelot The win ¬ ner raced in third position until her final dash which made her the winner by the shortest of noses Theo Rochesters margin was a nose also with Judge Dixon having a length and a half on the fourth horse Eloise EloiseThe The rest of the field made up of Heradc Virado Ultimate Vote and Sir Raoul finished in the order named and without having fig ¬ ured in the running at any stage stageWEATHER WEATHER GOOD GOODThe The racing was again favored by perfect weather for the sport and the oval was at its best bestThe The Missouri Stable furnished the winner of the Lambert Field secondary feature on the program when Bozo scored in handy fashion over Le Flore Your Play and four others over the mile and seventy yards course courseWhile While Le Flore held the post of honor in the betting Bozo was not neglected and was a well played second choice choiceApprentice Apprentice Day astride the winner al ¬ lowed Le Flore to set the pace rating his mount behind and when he called upon Bozo the latter lengthened his stride until he was on even terms rounding into the stretch and then came on to win going away Le Flore was easily best of others having an advan ¬ tage of eight lengths over Your Play with the rest of the field well strung out at the end endMrs Mrs W J Potters Patti Louise proved best of the spiinters that participated in the first race Ruth Long was the one to be second with Meyer Gold third thirdSouthland Southland Pal was the chief disappoint ¬ ment as he failed to be a contender at any stage of the race despite the severe punish ¬ ment meted out by apprentice B Hanford Patti Louise and Verdant Son began with a rush for the lead on the back stretch and the Potter representative proved the fastest She soon shook him off and raced into a commanding advantage and held sway for the remainder of the journey winning by four lengths Ruth Long was the one to get second place by a length and a half from Meyer Gold Verdant Son after his early speed retired and finished last of the seven starters startersThe The Meadowbrook Stable took down its first purse of the meeting when Whataman scored a wellearned victory in the second race in which twelve juveniles engaged at five furlongs P M Burchs Amour again was beaten by the shortest of margins after a stubborn stretch engagement Night Flash was third The winner was grouped in the mutuel field with Oscar and Betty Niles and attracted considerable support A clever ride by L Whitacre got the winner home in front It was his first winning mount of the meeting meetingDELAYS DELAYS START STARTLexington Lexington Girl delayed the start when she refused to line up and was placed on the outside Amour was the first to show closely followed by Whataman and My Toots The winner soon got to the lead and once there was never headed Amour proved better than Night Flash in the final drive by a half length while the latter had the same advantage over Lexington Girl GirlComing Coming from last place under a confident ride by Ralph Whittaker Lansquent from the stable of W L Johnson furnished a surprise when he upset the dope in the one mile and onasixteenth third race proving best of the eight that visited the post Chee Chee under the colors of the Audley Farm Stable got second place and C Graffagninis Trickery Colonel was third
