SON OF SUN BRIAR SCORES Sun Memory Eomps to Easy Vic ¬ tory at Cleveland Management of Fenway Hall Presents Cup Cupto to Trainer Adverse Weather Weatherand and Track Conditions CLEVELAND Ohio June 10 W S Kil ¬ mers Sun Memory took the measure of the best field provided at Thistle Down Park this afternoon when he romped to an easy victory in the Fenway Hall Purse a race for threeyearolds over six furlongs and run as the third In addition to the S50 which went to the winner a silver cup donated by the management of Fenway Hall was presented to trainer W A Crawford Sun Memory was closely followed by Gold Step and his stable companion Sun Blow during the early stages After making the far turn the son of Sun Briar opened up an easy lead which the others were never able to overcome At the end he was under mild restraint This marked the second suc ¬ cess at this meeting for Sun Memory Sis Agnes outrun to the stretch came fast there ¬ after and outstayed Sun Blow for second honors after the latter had raced a trifle wide during the run home Gold Step was a factor until well into the stretch but tired badly during the final drive driveRacing Racing was staged under most disagreeable conditions Rain fell throughout the day rendering the track fetlock deep in sloppy mud This failed to cause any decrease in the size of the fields the limit number of starters facing the barrier in a majority of the seven races There was an absence of contention in all of the races which made It difficult to select the winners many of which won by rather comfortable margins The attendance showed a decided falling off owing to the adverse conditions conditionsR R Clarks Officer graduated from the maid ¬ en ranks when he led a band of a dozen nonwinners throughout in the opening race drawing away into an easy lead in the stretch Winters Moon raced closely lapped upon the winner to the stretch where he tired slightly but held the others safe at tho end Viola Stinson came fast on the outside from the rear in the stretch to beat the others home homeMiss Miss Peggy and Sky High fought for the leadership closely lapped until the stretch was reached in the second Miss Peggy then shook off the Nuckols colorbearer but at the end had to be rushed along to retain her slight margin over Scths Companion The latter followed the leaders in closest pursuit and made a challenge in the stretch Sky High retained third The placed trio dom ¬ inated the race throughout throughoutAt At no stage of the fourth race did Noble Charge leave the result in serious doubt The real thrill of the race was provided by Interior which came with a rush in the last furlong and headed Arline Connor for the second honors after the latter had raced in closest pursuit of the winner by a comfortable margin until well into the stretch stretchTaking Taking command at once NaniHawaii showed a return to her best form by leading by a comfortable margin at all stages in the fifth race Finnic took the second portion of the purse after racing close up for the entire race Kamuela had no opposition for third honors after Lucky Drift tired in the last half mile
