CHUM, away poorly and much the best, remained far back for seven-eighths, then close fast on tn* outside and took the lead, drawing away at the end. SCARLET BRIGADE lost ground on the first turn and, closing fast on the back stretch, held on well after taking the lead, but was no match for the winner. BUNCH OF LILIES improved her position gradually and was wearing down SCARLET BRIGADE. POLLY-WOG had no mishaps. SARCASTIC was in close quarters repeatedly. DODGSON tired.
