FIG LEAF came through next to the rail on the back stretch, raced MARGE COLLINS into defeat and drew away easily at the end. CLEMMIE, away in a tangle and forced to race wide, closed with a belated rush in the middle of the track. MARGE COLLINS, used up racing with the pacemaker in the early stages, tired in the last eighth. MOTE met interference on the turn and was going strong next to the rail in the stretch. ASTRON took the lead with a rush on the stretch turn and, drawing clear, was tiring fast at the end. The latter trailed along behind, but moved up steadily on the outside after going half a mile and, forced wide to secure a clear passage in the stretch, would have won in a few more strides. NOBLE SIR showed an even performance. DOUBLE O., used up chasing DOMINA in the early racing, quit. DOMINA rushed into a long early lead in the first half mile, then tired.
