ATCINES steadily improved his position and held the others safe. THALO showed speed until midway of the stretch, then tired. KRANELLA closed with a rush on the outside. GRAND VOIVODE began slowly, closed much ground and finished fast. ROCK PLAY and SIR HARVEY tired. ED REESE closed with a rush on the outside after rounding the far turn, overhauled the leaders midway of the stretch and, continuing gamely, won going away. BONAIRE moved up on the outside entering the stretch, took command an eighth out. but failed to withstand the challenge of the winner. ICARUS forced the pace to the stretch, where he showed in front immediately, but tired thereafter. INTERIOR finished fairly well, as did PAULINE H. MELMOR unseated his rider and galloped off five-eiehths before the start, then showed good speed to the last eighth. EUPHRATES closed steadilv. FRETWELL tired, as did CATLETTSBURG.
