HIALEAH PARK GOSSIP Trainer James Fitzsimmons, who has a string of horses owned by the Belair Stud, Wheatley Stable and Mrs. H. C. Phipps stabled at Hialeah Park, reports that several of his two-year-olds have a temperature and their training will be suspended. A. T. Halter, who is in charge of the landscaping division of the ,500,000 improvement program at Hialeah Park, has his work far advanced and has but to set out the beds of flowers along the front stretch rail and plant the creepers which will cover the small islands in the infield lake to complete the preparations for the opening. Jay Evans, assistant to racing secretary J. S. Wallace, is an official in the Kentucky state highway department and is working the Hialeah Park meeting on leave of absence. A full crew in all departments worked throughout New Years Day rushing the work at Hialeah Park. A glass wind breaker will be installed in the press box, which is of the open type. A direct service telephone connected with the mutuel department will also be placed in the box. Ticket issuers in the totalizator department have been installed in the club hous and outlying units, reported Mortimer Ma-honey, director of mutuels. Only the finishing touches to the approximate odds boards in the infield and paddock remain to placa the mutuel mechanism in full operation.
