f TROPICAL PARK TURF NGTEsl ; E. Fred received word from Columbia, B. C, that the eight yearlings he took over from W. B. Miller are wintering in grand Bhape. Fred has a full sister to Frank Grossman, which showed a fast trial before being put away for the winter. Fred left seven horses In winter quarters at Belmont Park when he shipped South. Joe Edwards brought the eight older horses he has in training to Hialeah Park. He turned out on Long Island the four yearlings that he purchased at the Saratoga ales. Jockey E. Johnson, an apprentice, was an Srrival from New Orleans, took out his cense and will be seen In action shortly. Joe Rowan turned Flying Max out in Maryland. This racer was a bit jaded after a. strenuous campaign this fall and his trainer decided that a rest would freshen him up. The Hialeah Park horse monopoly is broken. Next week, several owners will bring their horses to Tropical Park, included In which will be several star performers. The arrival of those stabled at Hialeah undoubtedly will make the Tropical Park cards more attractive. This was the information gleaned in the secretarys office eary today. B. B. Williams stabled five horses. They Included Lawyer, Sweepmar and Marshal Mey and two two-year-olds, Charapp and igh Explosive. Jockey Albert Abel, well-known on the New York tracks, registered this morning. Charles Gallagher, a Brooklyn contractor and close friend of John McCooey, is here combining pleasure with a fling at the horses. Another welcome visitor is Bill Kiley, oldest handicapper in the business. The manner in which the course dried out after the drenching rain of Thursday night, testified to its excellent construction and there is no stress of weather that could ever make the going really deep and holding. Preston Burch, who is wintering at B ending, plans to be on hand for the opening of the Hialeah meeting. He sent a couple of horses to Florida in charge of his brother Bhelby. Joe Boyle, manager of the Bowie plant, writes that he plans to leave Baltimore after the holidays and will spend a couple of weeks vacationing in Florida before getting back into harness. Many improvements are ; Elanned for Bowie before the spring meet-ig, principal one of which is the improvement of the parking arrangements and : resurfacing of some of the roads leading into the track. The offices of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association have been moved to the Baltimore Life Building, orner of Saratoga and Charles Street, jrhere the club is located In suite 317.
