MASSACHUSETTS BILLS FILED Bayard Tuckerman, Jr., Sportsmen and Business Men Sponsor Measure Proceeds Go to Aged. BOSTON, Mass., Jan. 14. Massachusetts may see legalized horse races this year, and possibly, even dog races. Two bills, one embracing both horses and dogs and the other only horses, were filed with the clerk of the house of representatives today. One bill was sponsored by Bayard Tuckerman, Jr., and thirty-three other sportsmen and business men, provided for the legal racing of horses through the establishment of the Massachusetts Racing Commission with the proceeds to go to promotion of agriculture and for the old age assistance fund. The second measure, broader in scope, in that it provided for dog racing, was filed by representative Daniel J. Coakley of Chico-pee, would legalize racing and betting with a view of financing a large share of the old age assistance costs. It was estimated that the passage of the latter measure would bring an annual revenue to the commonwealth in excess of ,000,000.
