BILL LUTZ, suited by the going and away fast, raced wide throughout and, drawing away gradually after straightening out in the final quarter, had speed to spare. BUNTHORNE, a strong factor from the start, was in close quarters on the turn and, while no match for the winner, easily outlasted the others. PANZOLA, always close up, held on gamely. PARTICIPATE dropped back in the stretch. BY PRODUCT, hard ridden, failed to get up. JOHN SPEED quit badly after showing speed to the closing three-sixteenths. LUCKY DRIFT, a factor from the start, was forced very wide by WILDOLIVE in the stretch, then tired. WILDOLIVE, hard ridden throughout and showing speed, went wide into the stretch and tired. RELLINE had no mishaps. ENTICE began very slowly. PRINCESS NIGHT quit. GOLDEN THRUSH unseated his rider when he attempted to wheel at the start. RAGAOMA refused at the start. SMOLDERING, on the outside throughout and never far out of it, responded resolutely to vigorous urging and, wearing down POLLYS FOLLY, drew clear and was not threatened by TAT. The latter, prominent throughout, withstood the drive gamely. CHATTERWAY began very slowly, improved her position steadily and closed resolutely. UNLUCKY showed speed, saved ground on the turn ard tired at the end. SILVER WAVE had no mishap and tired in the closing three-sixteenths. POLLYS FOLLY forced the early pace under restraint, held the lead briefly in the stretch and quit badly in the closing eighth. AGAPANTHUS, sore, did not respond to brisk pressure and pulled up lame. CHRIS. PASCHEN, away slowly when Rogers was caught napping at the start, was always far back. GERTRUDE READE, racing in her best form and under light weight, remained far back for Five-eighths, improved her position slowly thereafter and, withstanding the drive gamely, wore down FORTUNE in the closing strides. The latter, under restraint until reaching the last half mile, suffered interference from WILD LAUREL entering the stretch, held on stubbornly after taking the lead, but was not good enough. CONSTANCE ANN, weakly ridden and in the more holding going most of the way, raced on her own courage. WILD LAUREL showed speed, held the lead briefly and was tiring when he impeded FORTUNE in the stretch. ED REESE began slowly and was never a factor. JIM and held INTRUDER safe. The latter showed speed, was under light restraint for three-quarters and held on resolutely, pulling up sore. ST. JIM raced wide throughout,- raced into the lead on the outside after half a mile, easily drew clear, but tired in the final eighth. AREGAL showed a good performance. ALTON N. was weakly ridden.
