P HANDICAP ATTRACTS STARS Pontchartrain Handicap Eligibles Include Wotan, Surf Board, Spanish Play and Jimmy Moran. NEW ORLEANS, La., Jan. 25. Twenty-seven horses, the "cream" of the three-year-olds and older ones here, are eligible for the ,000 added Pontchartrain Handicap, to be renewed at the Fair Grounds Saturday. All of the stakes winners of the season to date, "including J. J. Robinsons Lucky Tom, winner of the Jefferson Derby, and Edward Haughtons Wotan, triple stakes winner at Jefferson Park, are among the eligibles. Mrs. Payne Whitneys Greentree Stable has named Surf Board, one of the outstanding older performers engaged in winter racing this season, while C. V. Whitney is represented by Bargello and Col. E. R. Bradley by Bar Hunter and Broad Meadows. Knebelkamp and Morris Spanish Play is another of the more distinguished eligibles. Charles Bacharach, owner of the Southland Stable, entered Playtime, winner of the New Years Handicap at the Louisiana Jockey Club track last winter, and Jimmy Moran, M. Goldblatts double stakes winner at the same course last season, is another of the nominees. With the running at the popular distance of one mile and a sixteenth, and such a brilliant array of probable starters, the feature shapes up as one likely to result in one of the most sensational contests ot the meeting. Secretary McLennan will announce the weights to be carried Wednesday afternoon. Following are the nominations: Bar Hunter, Broad Meadows, Light Mint, Who Win, Camp Douglas, Glastonbury, Surf Board, Jimmy Moran, Mine Sweeper, Prose and Poetry, Wotan, Sandwrack, Spanish Play, Gettin Even, Springsteel, Prince Atheling, Black Fool, Frumper, Lucky Tom, Etonardo, Nellie Custis, Real Pardner, Playtime, Crystal Prince, Gaillardia, Quatre Bras II. and Bargello. Closed Saturday, January 23, with twenty-seven nominations. Weights, Wednesday, January 27 at 6 p. m.
