4! HIALEAH PARK TURF NOTES John Willys, United States ambassador to Poland, and Sir William Letts were the guests of Leo M. Edwards, district manager of the Willys Knight Corporation at Hialeah Park Saturday afternoon. Mr. Willys motored down from Palm Beach. Three Florida Derby candidates are included in the quintet named for the Deland Handicap for three-year-olds and upward, at one mile, which is the feature of the program at Hialeah Park Tuesday. They are G. D. Wideners Evening, the Wheatley Stables Slambang and the Howe Stables San-sarica. The last named is an imported son of the great English race horse, Sansovino., Turf workers expressed deep regret at the news of the death of Mrs. Carl Roesler, wfe of the veteran mutuels worker. Deceased passed away in Miami Saturday night. J. F. Patterson is getting up a mixed car to ship to Lexington, Ky., next Wednesday. Jockey Pete Walis, who has been out of the saddle for a week, due to an infection of his right leg, will take up his duties again Tuesday. Eddie Kummer was substituted for Walls on Edith A. in the third race. Jockey George Rose arrived from Havana over the week-end. He is convalescing from a fall suffered at Oriental Park. The Buxton Brothers Rose reports will ship their horses from Cuba to Columbia, S. C, this week to be freshened up for the opening of the metropolitan campaign. Fred Krafts good plater Hibala was punch fired, and will be turned out. Dr. Finch, Jeffersonville, Ind., veterinary surgeon, operated on the Pegasus stables Beau Jolie for wind trouble. Robert McKeever reports that Show Down was jumped on and suffered a bad gash in his right fetlock going to the first turn in his race Saturday. The horse will be thrown out of training for some time. Colonel Reynolds of the Remount Service will visit Hialeah February 25 with a view of purchasing stallions suitable for the Remount Service. Those having stallions for sale are requested to get in touch with Major Thomas McCreery, stable C, at Hialeah Park. Trainer W. F. Mulholland has announced that a draft of horses in the G. D. Widener stable will be disposed of in a paddock sale at Hialeah Park February 26.
