GOLDEN EFFORT raced wide on the final bend, but was racing gamely at the finish. ROYAL CHEF showed good speed. DUPEE could not keep up. CHIEF ALMGREN raced fairly well. IMA STAR rushed into contention from an outside position soon after the start, but did not seriously threaten the leaders. WISHING CAP closed a gap. MOANE KEALA sprinted to the front after going a quarter and, although swerving out slightly in the stretch, easily held the others safe. BUD ELDER challenged gamely in the stretch, but was not good enough. GARETH was close up all the way. BONNIE KAY tired. POOKANAKA acted badly at the post and was placed on the outside, but began well and, moving up steadily under a well Judged ride, appeared ready to take the lead on the stretch turn when he broke down and was eased up. PROCTOR HUG followed AMOUR closely in the early stages, had his head in front after entering the stretch, but was carried out and met interference, which ruined his chances. AMOUR showed the most early speed, but tired and bore out in the stretch. GLEAMING STAR was in close quarters on the far turn. PURPLE LIGHT tired. CHEROKEE MAID, in close quarters on the first turn, finished fairly well. SPANISH LIGHT would have been dangerous had he not been blocked in the stretch. CAS WALSER was tiring when he was cut off by ON EDGE and in turn interfered with SPANISH LIGHT. BEA and JIBE tired. JOTIVA, a slow starter, was badly outrun for half a rnile, then moved up fiht, saved much ground on the far turn, then tired in the stretch. TETRA GLASS quit badly.
