CATHOPS FAST DERBY WORK MIAMI, Fla., Feb. 23. Between the running of the third and fourth races Saturday, R. M. Eastmans Florida Derby candidate Cathop, was brought out and sent a mile and a furlong. M. Garner, who will ride the colt in the derby engagement, was in the saddle. The fractional time of the move was :23, :35, :47, 1:00, 1:12, 1:24, 1:38, 1:51. This was about as smart a move as has been shown here all winter, and on the strength of it Cathop will be a mighty hard horse to beat. Trainer Tommy Taylor claims that the colt has improved with training and right now is at the top of his form. Cathop is 3. half-brother to Mike Hall, the famous old gelding that Mr. Eastman sent abroad in quest of various of the big English prizes after he had established himself " by a brilliant record in this country.
