NO STEEPLECHASING j AT ARLINGTON PARK j . , Steeplechasing will not be conducted at Arlington Park during the thirty-day meeting from June 27 to July 30, it was announced Thursday by Roy Carruthers, general manager, upon his return from Florida, where he conferred with the directors of the Arlington Park Jockey Club. "The decision was reached," Mr. Carruthers said, Because sufficient owners of steeplechase horses were not interested in the sport at Arlington Park, despite the fact that nearly 0,000 was distributed to successful stables last season. "We were gratified at the publics response to this branch of racing, which was comparatively new in Chicago, but without assurance that the majority of leading stables and horses would participate in Arlington steeplechasing this summer, we were compelled to abandon the sport for this season at least," Mr. Carruthers added.
