LORD VALE, off quickly, opened up a long lead in the early running and won as he pleased. BAY ROSE raced gamely to best CHATTER ON. The latter was not punished and finished far in front of WIRT. WIRT was being eased up, as were DOMINANT STAR and BABY BANE. MEADOW KING, KOJI and COPY BOOK were pulled up before the finish. Previous to the running of this race a false start was made and all horses, with the exception of LORD VALE, ran the full distance. LORD VALE remained at the post. The horses were taken back to the barrier and started again and LORD VALE, benefited by not having run the extra distance, was much the best. After the false start BAY ROSE finished first.
