5- BOWIE CHARITY DAY APRIL 14 Southern Maryland Association Only Maryland Track to Stage Spring Charity Day. BALTIMORE, Md., March 18. The Southern Maryland Agricultural Association, which will conduct the eleven-day spring meeting at Bowie, is the only one of the states major tracks that will stage a charity program this spring for -Marylands unemployed. The date is Thursday, April 14. General manager Joseph B. Boyle made the announcement of Bowies charity program today. Havre de Grace and Pimlico managements announced they were granted permission by the Maryland Racing Commission to offer their charity sport Tuesday, September 20, and Monday, October 31, respectively. The Maryland State Fair, Inc., which operates the Laurel track, will do its bit for Governor Albert C. Ritchies unemployed fund Monday, October 3. This states four one-mile tracks turned over more than 20,000 to Marylands unemployed last year. Bowie opens the eastern racing season April 1 and will stage it3 charity card the day after the season ends. This will leave an open date between the Bowie and Havre de Grace meetings and give horsemen ample time to ship to the Harford County track for the thirteen-day meeting of the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association opening April 16.
