PHAR LAPS RACING RECORD Phar Lap, champion of Australia, is scheduled to make his American debut next Sunday, when he fulfills his engagement in the 0,000 Agua Caliente Handicap. Heralded as the -wonder horse of the antipodes, Phar Lap is without question one of the greatest race horses- ever brought to this country. He is a chestnut gelding, foaled in 1926, by Night Raid Entreaty, by Winkie. Bred in New Zealand, he was offered for sale at the annual vendue of Australian yearlings and attracted the attention of a trainer named H. Hi Telford. Telford had no money to buy horses, but he prevailed upon J. D. Davis to bid on the liorse and he was knocked down to Mr. Davis for 00.- Telford then leased the yearling from Mr. Davis, the lease to expire at the end of his four-year-old season.
