JOE MACAW, off rather slowly, moved up fast on the outside of the others and, closing with a rush through the stretch, drew out in the final sixteenth. HALLOCK improved his position fast on the stretch turn and held ORKIN safe. The latter was interfered with soon after the start, but closed strongly. SAVOYARD tired. VOLQUARY also tired. RED CASINO closed a gap. EMERY was pinched back early. SPANISH JACK, away fast, overtook GENGHIS KHAN leaving the back stretch and, closing gamely under punishment, drew away easily in the final quarter. GENGHIS KHAN dashed to the front at once and, although holding on well, could not resist the winner. WOOLY METEOR was in close quarters on the inside soon after the start, quickly recovered, but could not overtake the leaders. BAFFLORETTE improved her position on the outside and, coming through in the stretch, finished fast. DEALER tired.
