Won easily ; second and third driving. CAN RON worked her way up steadily on the outside and, responding to pressure in the stretch, wore down the leaders and drew away. BOILING WATER, fractious at the post, moved into command early, raced MABLA into defeat and held on well. UNIQUE, under restraint early, went to the outside of the leaders on the stretch turn and finished well. FLAG TRICK closed a gap under urging. BIRD NEST saved ground on the turns. Won driving; second and third easily. HATBROOM followed the pace under restraint, moved into command after the sixth fence and, jumping boldly, bobbled at the final fence, but outlasted DRAPEAU. The latter jumped well and challenged gamely when called upon and was wearing down the winner. PORTRAIT, taken back under restraint, moved up fast when called upon and closed a gap at the end. PURPLE DUST was outrun. OUTLAW challenged at the last turn of the field, then tired. TRIESTE was rated along in front for the first turn. Overweight — Hatbroom, 1 pound. MATE raced forwardly from the start and tired in the stretch. BLENHEIM raced evenly all the way. ROCKY NEWS was outrun all the way.
