COMMUTER WINS AGAIN ♦ Defeats Blind Bowboy in First Feature of Aqueduct Meeting. ♦ Third Place in Rockaway Claiming Stakes Falls to Condescend — Kerry Patch Set Back. ♦ NEW YORK, N. Y., June 10— Commuter, the unsexed son of Transmute and Shuttle, having rounded to his best form, was winner of the Rockaway Claiming Stakes, at Aqu-duct today. This was the opening day feature of the Queens County Jockey Club meeting and it was Commuters second score since he became the property of Ella De T. Simpson. The race had a net value of ,300 to the winner. Conditions were ideal for the opening day of the meeting and the crowd was sufficient to fill the stands and the lawn. It had been announced that the stall starting gates would not be used on a late request from trainers it was decided they would be continued for the meeting. After Ha Ha had been withdrawn from the Rockaway, there were only five left to race and it was the first start for Blind Bowboy under the silks of G. H. Bostwick. That talented amateur had the mount himself and he rode his purchase into second place in a close fit with Frank E. Browns Condescend, with Caplin and Uncanny, the other starters, trailing. UNCANNY QUITS. Leaving the stalls, Robertson at once went out to show the way with Commuter and, dropping him down on the rail after leaving from the outside stall, he never had to surrender command. He had the son of Transmute under a slight restraint as he went along at a lively pace and was still well clear when the stretch was reached. Blind Bowboy was running in second place and Uncanny was showing the way to Condescend. In the stretch Uncanny was all through and dropped back, while Coucci made a move with Condescend and he moved up strongly on the outside. A furlong out he was alongside Blind Bowboy, but Commuter was still going strongly in front and he was over the line the winner by three lengths. Just at the end Condescend hung ever so slightly and Blind Bowboy earned the place by a short head. Six lengths back Caplin, which had cut no figure in the running, beat the tired Uncanny for fourth. It appeared that both Condescend and Uncanny were short. The race should benefit both. HAPPY SCOT SECOND. The Kingston Handicap only brought out four starters and Leo J. Marks Morsel proved best when he was winner over Cary T. Graysons Happy Scot, while J. P Smiths The Beasel saved third from the Pauline Stables Colossal. From a good start it was The Beasel that jumped into the lead, closely followed by Happy Scot, and Morsel was showing the way to Colossal, but a couple of lengths back of the other two. Gilbert made no immediate effort to catch the leaders when the pace was a fast one and The Beasel was drawing away from Happy Scot. The mare was still showing the way as she turned into the long stretch, but there Gilbert shook up Morsel and, while compelled to go outside the other two to find racing room, the son of Vulcain began to draw up on them. An eighth out he was alongside and there The Beasel had enough but, as she tired, Happy Scot took up the fight. For a few strides he went with Morsel, but it was only a few strides when Gilbert drew away with the winner to be past the line with three lengths to spare and in 1:11, which was just one-fifth of a second slower than the track record. Happy Scot had beaten The Beasel by a like distance and Colossal was well lapped on the mare at the end. There came a disqualification in the fifth, a five-eighths dash for the juveniles, when Lee Rosenbergs Kerry Patch, after beating his field home, was set back and the purse went to Willis Sharpe Kilmers Sun Captor, which was second. Walter M. Jeffords Mahomet was moved into second place and third was awarded Mrs. T. J. Lewis Fingal. Robertson was suspended for five days in j unjjghment for his ride, ,
