TORONTO SPORT INTERESTING i Gay Party Disappoints in Outstanding Race — Happen Triumphs. • Seemego Graduates From Maiden Ranks in Second Race at Long Branch — Marie Gaiety Scores. ♦ TORONTO, Ont., June 10.— While the program today at Long Branch was given over to the platers, it was interesting sport that was provided. The attendance was the largest of the meeting. Cool weather again prevailed, but the track was never better, and some of the fastest time of the meeting was made. From a class standpoint, the best offering of the day was the fifth, which engaged six platers. Favorite players were disappointed here when Gay Party, the choice, after a poor start, wound up in last place. Mrs. G. Fox supplied the winner in Happen, which defeated J. S. McDonalds recent acquisition, Spanfair. Suneur, a neglected factor from the Forest Cove Stable, was third. Happen went to the front in the run to the first turn, opened up a good lead in the run through the back stretch, maintained good speed and reached the finish line two lengths to the good. Spanfair ran well from the beginning, made a determined effort to reach the leader, but was not good enough, though holding on determinedly in the final drive. Suneur was a factor all the way. A limit number of starters went to the post in the first race, a ,000 top and bottom claiming affair. Mrs. J. P. Mayberrys Gobi proved much the best of the dozen that started, dominating the running throughout and finishing far in advance of Blighter. The locally owned Caryldon earned third for C. Smythe. Canadian-bred platers furnished the entertainment in the fourth. It resulted in the triumph for Marie Gaiety in a driving finish with Lindsay, with Duchess of York, taking third place, four lengths further back. From the start it was Mythical Lore, Kirk-land Post and Marie Gaiety that set the pace, with Lindsay under restraint further back. Near the half mile post Marie Gaiety took command and Mythical Lore dropped back. Midway on the turn Marie Gaiety increased her advantage and Lindsay began moving up. Marie Gaiety was clear in the stretch, but Lindsay, racing in courageous fashion, was overtaking the winner at every stride, until as the finish line was reached, only a neck separated the pair.
