AURORA STABLES ARE FILLING More Than One Hundred Now Training at Exposition Park. Bartelstein and Denemark Will Have Two of Most Useful Strings There Track Reported in iine Shape. CICERO, 111., Aug. 31 Fred Crafton, who is alloting the stable room at Exposition Park, where a meeting of thirteen days or more will get under way Saturday, visited the Hawthorne track this afternoon and brought word of much activity at the snug little course in Fox River Valley. Crafton stated that already more than 100 horses are on the grounds and training daily, while at least 250 more are expected to be housed before the meeting gets under way. The statement of Crafton r "natically does away with the rumor that Exposition Park would not -have er,ough horses to carry through their schedule, and, with the promise of several prominent stables now racing at Hawthorne to move to the track at the conclusion of the Cicero session, the class of horses entered in the better races may be a surprise to many. Among the more successful owners who have announced their intention of racing at Exposition Park are Abe Bartelstein, whose small but powerful string has been prominent in handicap circles in this section throughout the season, and Emil Denemark, who has a number of very useful horses. O. L. Foster and L. M. Holmes are others whose racers will compete in the Aurora contests. Track superintendent Tim Smith sends word that the racing strip at Exposition Park was never in better shape. No attempt has been made to whip the course into concrete condition with a breakage of track records in view. Instead, a nice cushion for the protection of the horses legs has been added for the protection of the animals which will strut their stuff during the coming meeting. Eight races will be decided at Exposition Park Saturday, with the first event going postward at 2:30, Chicago time.
