NOAHS PRIDE IS TRIUMPHANT Captures First Place in Ohio Handicap at Bainbridge. Worm Glow and Dollar Princess Engage in Hard Drive for Place Honors Marcelet Successful. GEAUGA LAKE, Ohio, Aug. 31. Noahs Pride carried the colors of the Sari Stable to victory in the Ohio Handicap in a dash of three-quarters, run as the fifth event, which featured the offering at Bainbridge Park this afternoon. Worm Glow and Dollar Princess divided the minor award. Worm Glow and Dollar Princess raced closely lapped contesting the leadership until well into the stretch. Rounding the turn Noahs Pride found an opening on the inside and raced up into third place. During the final eighth Noahs Pride closed gamely on the outside and, in a rousing finish, headed Worm Glow in the last few yards. Dollar Princess weakened during the final test, but finished two lengths away and well in advance of the others. Over a slow but rapidly drying out track, the races were contested. The weather was clear, but intensely hot. The attendance was up to the standard for a mid-week day. Securing an opening next the inner rail at the far turn, O. Viaus Marcelet then raced into the lead and, despite going extremely wide during the run home, was never in serious trouble in the fourth race. Prince Reno came with his accustomed rush from the rear on the inside through the stretch and finished a very creditable second. Don-day, after being much used in contesting the early leadership with French Maid and Graphite, was carried very wide through the stretch by Marcelet. OConnell and Rector provided the winner of the initial event in Paul T. Jockey W. Bo-ganowski sent him through on the inside when Artistry went wide while rounding the stretch turn and he drew out into an easy lead during the final furlong. Artistry, the favorite, displayed the most early speed and held the others safe at the end. It was only in the closing strides that Chilow headed Parkersburg for third, after the latter had raced prominently from the start. Taking command at once, Sweet Lacruse never left the issue in doubt during the running of the second race. The Sweep gelding was most fancied and his victory was popular. Crittall, although well in advance of the others for most of the trip, was hard pressed at the end to save the second award from the strong-finishing Fortunate Mann. Shift was never prominent, although stanchly supported. After wresting the lead from Master Durbar midway of the back stretch, Dick Porter opened up an easy lead in the third event and was never headed thereafter. The son of The Porter was tiring at the end, however, and doing his best to retain a neck advantage. On Trial closed courageously through the stretch on the inside and was rapidly overhauling the winner as the wire was reached. Master Durbar, prominent throughout, always held the balance safe. Jockey D. Dickson piloted his third winner of the afternoon when he brought Dr. Billy from the rear through the stretch in the sixth race and overhauled Snooty.
