EASTERN SHORE HANDICAP Twenty-Eight Juveniles, Including Kerry Patch and Ladysman, Are Named for 0,000 Feature. HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., Sept. 27. Twenty-eight juveniles were entered to run in the 0,000 Eastern Shore Handicap, to be decided here tomorrow afternoon, at three-quarters. Should all start, the winner will receive 3,500, but a dozen scratches are expected, which would reduce the victors share to 7,500. The large number of overnight entries for this important event is attributed to the condition of the track, which was sloppy today, and probably will be in a heavy or slow condition for the running of the Eastern Shore. More rain is expected tonight, which will prevent any improvement in the course. Listed among the certain starters are Lee Rosenbergs Kerry Patch and W. R. Coes Ladysman, respectively first and second in the Futurity at Belmont Park. The former colt, to be ridden by Pete Walls, his Futurity rider, must carry 123 pounds, five less than the impost assigned Ladysman, the top weight. As the latter colt, winner of the Arlington Futurity, Hopeful and other stakes, drew the outside position, which will benefit him as he is a slow beginner, he is expected to rule the favorite. Pomponius, victorious here last week, may be a running mate for Ladysman. The Coe entry is but one of five in the event, C. V. Whitneys Caterwaul, The Darb and Disdainful is the largest numerically, the former two having been shipped here from New York, while the latter filly has been here in charge of Fred Hopkins and yesterday increased her list of victories to six out of seven. Crowning Glory, winner of the Hyde Park Stakes in which he mastered Ladysman, is due to represent Mrs. John H. Whitney, as will Poppyman, which earned brackets over this course last week. The Pelican and Golden Way have -been named to run for Joseph E. Widener, while Easy Day and Jungle King are the entries of Greentree Stable. Other prominent overnight candidates include E. R. Bradleys Barn Swallow, which captured the Matron Handicap and Tomboy Handicap at Belmont Park; Hal Price Head-leys Technique, runner-up to Ladysman in the Arlington Futurity and victorious here the other day, and Mrs. William Crumps Head Play, which has the Cincinnati Trophy and Hawthorne Juvenile Stakes to his credit. Although nearly a hundred jockeys are registered here, all the outstanding riders have been engaged for the Eastern Shore, which is a principal reason why many declarations are expected.
