OLD STALLION ATWELL DEAD LEXINGTON, Ky., Sept. 29. Atwell, eighteen-year-old thoroughbred stallion, died of colic at the Fayette Farm of his owner, Howard Oots, a few miles from Lexington. Mr. Oots bought Atwell as a yearling at Newmarket, England, in 1915, paying 130 guineas, or about 50. His racing career was cut short by an accident after he had won and shown indications of class. Atwell was a chestnut son of the Derby winner, St. Amant, from Doro, by Cyllene.
