DATES FOR HAVANA STAKES List of Stellar Events for Oriental Park Meeting Opening January 21 knd Closing March 12. COLLINSVTLLE, 111., Oct. 6 Horsemen here were well pleased with the announcement regarding the winter meeting at Oriental Park, Mariano, Cuba. There are a dozen or more owners here who annually race at the Cuban track and, although the meeting this year will not get under way until January 21, they plan on taking in the Jefferson Park season at New Orleans and shipping from there to Havana. According to word received here, the fourteen stakes to be decided during the fifty-one racing days that terminate March 12 will be as follows: January 21 Inaugural Handicap, 3-year-olds and upward, ,500 added, six furlongs. January 22 La Playa Beach Handicap, four-year-olds and upward, ,000 added, one and one-sixteenth miles. January 28 Jose Marti Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, ,500 added, one and one-sixteenth miles. January 29 The Turismo Cup, three-year-olds, ,500 added, 1 mile and 50 yards. February 5 The Marianao Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, ,500 added, six furlongs. February 12 Jockey Club Claiming Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, ,500 added, six furlongs. February 19 Cuban Mile Championship, three-year-olds, ,500 added, one and one-sixteenth miles. February 22 Washington Claiming Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, ,200 added, six furlongs. February 24 Independence Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, ,000 added, one and one-sixteenth miles. February 26 Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, ,000 added, six furlongs. March 5 Grand Drawing Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, ,500 added, six furlongs. March 8 Trial Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, ,500 added, one and one-eighth miles. March 11 Cuban Juvenile Stakes, two-year-olds of 1933, ,500 added, four furlongs. March 12 Cuban Grand National Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, 0,000 added, one and one-quarter miles. Charles Campau, placing judge and clerk-of the scales here, is receiving applications for stalls. According to present plans, the condition books for the first seven days of the meeting will be ready for distribution among the horsemen the first of next week.
