LATONIA TURF NOTES The stewards tabled the application of Joe Cavens for a jockey, license. Hurley Meyers was licensed as an authorized agent for E. L. Snyder and will make the engagements of apprentice Orville Whalen. John Oliver Keene was a visitor from his Keeneland Stud and stated that he would offer at auction seventeen head of horses at Lexington during the week of November 14. R. L. Stivers is shipping Parnell Bound and Cassinette back to Lexington, where they will be wintered. They go after the close of the meeting and will winter with Locust Moss, Dewhurst and six others, including four yearlings, all owned by Stivers. The Stivers stable next year will be larger than it has been for several seasons. , Tom Moran has arranged to ship the G. Collins horses from here to Jefferson Park, and at the close of that meeting they will be sent to Oriental Park. Mr. Collins is a liberal nominator to the fourteen stakes to be decided during the Oriental Park meeting. The two-year-old Thistle Play, which he regards highly and a recent winner at Latonia, was named for the Cuban Grand National Handicap. For the first time in several years the stable of John T. Ireland will not campaign during the winter. J. J. Keith wll return the Ireland horses to Lexington at the close of this meeting, where he will break and train the Ireland yearlings, and next spring take up the five old horses which were turned out at the Ireland farm last spring. W. J. Neal turned over the plater Dick Porter to Joe Turley to train. Jockey A. Robertson left for Maryland last night, but will return to Latonia to ride C. V. Whitneys Mad Frump in the Latonia Championship. Johnny Daniels vanned the - eight Southland Stable horses he had here to Lexington Tuesday morning and departs from that point for New Orleans Saturday. At Lexington Daniels will take over ten yearlings and the older horses Disturb and All Upset. C. A. Bidencope brought Estin, Jeff ONeil, Stella F., and Tight Rope here from Sportsmans Park. Jockey Danny McAuliffe returns to his home at Louisville after the Latonia meeting, where he will take a short rest before proceeding to Florida. McAuliffe will take in the Tampa meeting before the opening at Miami. Howard Wells is shipping the Howard Oots, Fairview Farm and Hamilton and Miller horses to Lexington at the close of this meeting. After a rest at Lexington, Wells will select a stable for a campaign at Hialeah Park. R. T. Runnels is taking High Storm and Sweet Peach to Jefferson Park- front: here. Runnels expects to acquire a couple of horses suitable for winter racing. Clyde Van Dusen returns the Dixiana Stable and several of his own to Lexington after the Latonia meeting. At that point he will select about twenty-five for a Florida and Oriental Park campaign. Although he is not actively engaged in the sport, Pete Coyne, former trainer of the Joseph E. Widener stable, and among our most accomplished horsemen, has not lost his interest in racing, and each week-end finds him on hand. He is making his home at Louisville. Harold Chinn, apprentice with George Keeton, arrived from Sportsmans Park and will ride during the remainder of the meet ing. "Buddy" ..Berry is handling Chinns book. R. Heigle, M. Dupuy and others of the older riders also got in from Chicago. Starter William Hamilton handed, down his first suspension of the meeting when he gave L. Cantrell five days for disobedience at the post in the fifth race.
