L Schwartzs fine son of American Flag and Daylight Saving, and Norman -W. Churchs Gallant Sir, leading lights of the field for the fourteenth annual 0,000 Latonia Championship Stakes coming up here Saturday, were unloaded here this morning following a fast and uneventful run from Maryland. In the same car with Gusto came Rehoboth, J. Fred Adams candidate for the same stake, which will also engage C. V. Whitneys Mad Frump; Charles T. Fishers Cee Tee; H. P. Headleys Big Beau; R. M. Eastmans Cathop and possibly W. S. Kilmers Sunmelus and W. R. Coes Osculator. Gallant Sir was accompanied by Plucky Play, Sundot, Northgalis and Gala Gold, and came in charge of trainer E. L. Fitzgerald. Jockey George Woolf, with the stable, and engaged to ride Gallant Sir in Saturdays rich race, also got in. Fitzgerald was greatly pleased with the manner in which Gallant Sir and others withstood the trip, and Gusto and Rehoboth also came through the jaunt in fine style. The arrival of Gusto, Gallant Sir and Rehoboth stimulated interest .in the impending clash in this richest of autumn fixtures for three-year-olds, and there is much speculation over the outcome of this cham-. pionship contest over the mile and three-quarters distance. The interest also is reflected in the number of requests for special reservations for the day being received in almost every mail, and the Latonia Jockey Club is confident that this will prove one of the biggest days here in several years. The field gathering for Saturdays renewal is without question the best matched and most attractive that has made the championship running in some years, and enthusiasts are well aware of the prospects for a thrilling contest. If Gusto, leading money winning horse of the year, can add the race to his string of conquests, he will Continued on twentieth page.
