The Havana-American Jockey Clubs fifty days of winter racing, scheduled to begin January 21, and ending March 12, with the richest stake of the season, the 0,000 Cuban Grand National Handicap Sweepstakes race, assures a total distribution of 00,000 to those horsemen who participate in the meeting, as shown by the conditions regulating the sport, and the added money value of fourteen feature attractions. T. M. Murphy, secretary, who is distributing stake blanks to horsemen in Maryland, and who will mail them this week, says this is the most pretentious step taken by the Havana-American Jockey Club to render Havana more popular as a winter turf center. The stake dates, conditions and added money value are as follows: January 21 Inaugural Handicap, for three-year-olds at time of closing; ,000, six furlongs. January 22 La Playa Beach Handicap, for four-year-olds at time of closing; ,500, one mile and one-sixteenth. January 28 Jose Marti Handicap, for three-year-olds and over at time of closing; ,500, mile and one-sixteenth. January 29 The Turismo Cup Handicap, for three-year-olds at time of closing; ,500, mile and fifty yards. February 5 The Marianao Handicap, for three-year-olds and over at time of closing; ,500, six furlongs. February 19 Cuban Mile Championship Handicap, for three-year-olds in 1933; ,500, one mile and one-sixteenth.
