* I SPORTSMANS PARK NOTES 1 • * In winning the seventh race Tuesday Duelist became ineligible to start in the eighth race Wednesday and the aged gelding was scratched. R. Scully is making the engagements for jockey F. C. Smith. M. Guess, a New Orleans lad, made his first appearance in the saddle Wednesday when he rode Phantasime. The boy is under contract to F. E. Fitzgerald and has had three years experience galloping horses. He weighs 95 pounds. The stewards passed on the application of apprentice J. Kinsella today, also licenses were granted trainers G. P. Williams, F. W. Gilliland, L. Morgraves, A. R. Dippo and J. Umensetter. Tuesday and Friday of each week has been set aside as Ladies Day and on those two days the members of the fair sex will be admitted to the grounds upon payment of the government tax of ten cents. Jockeys J. Bardales, R. Reeves, F. Meadows and O. Whalen had their first mounts of the meeting Wednesday. Sammy Steele, the former jockey, has taken over the book of the good two-year-old rider, F.
