BRILLIANT LAD, away slowly and well rated while working his way up, saved ground on the last turn when ZODE went wide and won in a drive. The latter took the lead on the second turn when POLYFON bolted, saved ground to the stretch and, going a trifle wide in the stretch, could not withstand the winner. WOLVERINE, away fast, moved up menacingly on the last turn. PETABIT and BOUNDING DEEP, fractious at the barrier and placed on the outside, closed a gap. LOFTY HEIGHTS dwelt at the start. WISE MONA dwelt at the start, worked her way up on the back stretch, but tired near the end. SHIFT raced evenlv. SHORTY O. could not get up. ALPERS, away fast and well ridden, took the lead on the first turn, saved ground and barely lasted to win in a driving finish. GO FETCH closed a gap and only lost by a narrow marein. PRINCE PEBBLES made up ground and held on well. CHARLIE CHAN, fractious at the barrier and placed on the outside, propped at the start, raced around the others and finished fastest.
