WINNING OWNERS IN THRONG T. P. Hayes, C. E. Hamilton, J. B. Respess, T. C. McDowell and E. R. Bradley in Crowd. LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 6.— Owners of former Derby winners mingled among the large crowd. Those noted were Tom P. Hayes, who won the 1913 Derby with the long shot, Donerail; C. E. Hamilton, who furnished Stone Street, the 1908 winner; J. B. Respess, whose Wintergreen won the 1909 renewal and Major Thomas C. McDowell, the owner of Alan-a-Dale, which won in 1902; Col. Edward R. Bradley, the owner of three winners; Mrs. Payne Whitney, whose Twenty Grand won in 1929; J. Hal Woodford, who furnished Pink Star, the 1907 winner and Hamilton C. Applegate, who was part owner of Old Rosebud, 1914 winner. William Walker, colored jockey, who rode Baden Baden to victory in 1877; Roscoe Troxler, who was successful with George J. Longs Sir Huon in 1906; Joe Notter, who was astride Regret, 1915, the only filly to win the race, Roscoe Goose, of Donerail fame, and Eugene James, the Louisville boy who rode Colonel Bradleys Burgoo King last year, were pilots of former Derby winners in the huge throng.
