The latter, well rated behind the early leader, took a short lead on the back stretch, but could not withstand the winner. TOPSIE H., taken back early, closed with a rush. DUSKY DAME showed early speed. ZODE was away slowly. MONNEE showed a fair performance. Won driving ; second and third the same. SILVER WAVE cut over sharply going to the first turn, causing a bad jam and, saving ground on the first turn, took the lead on the back stretch, but barely lasted to withstand YOUNG BILL. The latter, caught in close quarters going to the first turn, worked his way clear on the back stretch, saved ground on the second turn and was wearing down the winner. HIPPIAS closed fastest. ONE LONG HOP dwelt at the start, but closed a gap. PARADE REST tired. • KAI-FINN was crowded back going to the first turn. DICK BENNET refused to start. SQUAK raced evenly. POLYFON, well ridden on the turns, tired after forcing the early pace. R. K. GIRL, fractious at the barrier, was away poorly.
