1 LAT0NIA TURF NOTES 1 s Announcement was made Saturday morning that Quin Cogar, timer at Churchill .Downs and Latonia was appointed patrol judge for the Dade Park meeting opening Saturday August 12. T. P. Hayes arrived from Chicago Saturday morning and took over Busted, which he purchased from E. R. Bradley. Ray Blades and Marse Chan, which he will have for Coney Island racing, will arrive from Chicago, Sunday. The jockeys presented Samuel McMeekin, clerk of the scales, with a traveling bag. William H. Shelley, who serves as racing secretary at the American Turf Association tracks, will take a short rest at his home in Louisville before proceeding to Lincoln Fields for that meeting. C. Bruce Head, general manager of Lincoln Fields, will spend several days at Louisville before going to Chicago to arrange for the opening of- the Crete meeting. Judge Charles F. Pryce returned to his Louisville home Saturday night and Steward T. C. Bradley will spend several days at Lexington then proceed to Dade Park for the opening of that meeting. Samuel H. McMeekin, clerk of the scales and placing judge at the American Turf As sociation tracks, departed for Ludington, Mich, Saturday night to spend a vacation with his family. From there he goes to Lincoln Fields. The stables of Edward Haughton, W, E. Smith and Leo J. Marks were vanned to Coney Island Saturday morning. The stables of Mrs. Wm. Crump, Col. Phil T. Chinn and J. R. Allen were shipped to Thistle Down tonight. Harry Saladin got away for Hawthorne with the Allan B. Gallaher stable and G. E. Lewis shipped the Mrs. G. E. Lewis horses in the same car. Howard Wells has arranged to ship his large stable to Hawthorne Sunday night and at the same time Esseff, Bamboula, Knights Gal and Technique will be returned to Chicago. Olin Johnson will transfer the James C. Ellis horses to Dade Park Sunday night and M. N. Porter will send three head in the same car. Joe F. Patterson and jockey J. Kacala arrived from Chicago Saturday morning and returned to that point Saturday night. The Thoroughbred Club of America" was the guest of Col. Matt J. Winn at a luncheon held in the clubhouse at noon today. In the absence of Colonel Winn, Maurice Galvin, vice president of the Latonia Jockey Club, presided. About fifty breeders came from Lexington.
