The latter showed good speed throughout and held on well. BRILLIANT ROSE showed good form. LEAFLET had no mishaps. TERRAIN was outrun. BILL LUTZ gained gradually and probably would have won in another stride. BIRTHDAY GIFT, outrun early, came fast under punishment and finished gamely. AXTEL closed a gap. HELEN GREEN quit. SCORE raced improved, BIG MOMENT and SCORE were fractious and began from the outside. OTHERWISE, restrained early and inclined to bear in on the turn, caused BILLY JONES to be taken up sharply, then drew into the lead in the stretch and again impeded BILLY PONES, but held ISAIAH safe. The latter showed early speed, set a good pace to the final eighth, where he tired and was lucky to save second. BILLY JONES, probably best, closed gamely after suffering interference. The latter drew away into a commanding lead early, began to weaken an eighth out and finally gave way to the winner under a weak ride. BAMBOULA, under steadying restraint forcing the pace, failed to respond to urging and gave way badly in the drive. BRIGHT BUBBLE was done after going three-quarters.- EDITH A. was outclassed!
