HASKELL BUYS LONGRIDGE Retired Oil Man of Few York Pays PaysHigh High Price for Farm Near NearLexington Lexington LEXINGTON Ky May 2 Longridge the former W V Thraves estate near Lexing ¬ ton and in the midst of a cluster of Ken ¬ tuckys most famous thoroughbred breeding farms has been purchased from Judge J F Bailey who acquired it at a master commissioners sale three years ago by Frank Haskell a retired oil man of New York who it is understood expects to return the property to its former use as a nursery for thoroughbreds thoroughbredsIn In May 1931 Judge Bailey bought the place comprising 220 acres an elaborate residence and other improvements for 84 000 an average of approximately 382 an acre The price paid by Haskell is under ¬ stood to have been 112996 an average of 513 an acre It was the highest price paid for a farm in central Kentucky in the last few years yearsHaskell Haskell also has purchased from the Mu ¬ tual Benefit Life Insurance Company an ad ¬ joining tract of 164 acres Possession of both tracts is to be given immediately and the new owner is planning extensive im ¬ provements it is reported reportedSome Some local observers see in the sale of Longridge a possible association between the purchaser and the former owner W V Thraves and it is not unlikely that Thraves Is planning a comeback in the breeding and racing of thoroughbreds
